Kuroda Kanbei is a character newly featured in Sengoku BASARA 3.
Profile
Appearance
Kanbei's attire is composed of more dismal and somber colors in contrast with the rest of the cast, using less striking and vibrant ones. This is most likely to reflect his time spent in a cell. Certain other aspects of his design show this as well, most notably the large shackle around his neck and, of course, his weapon. Kanbei has crude, unkempt black hair that he wears in a pony tail, while his fringe hides his eyes. He also dons a long, tattered, beige overcoat. His weapon is a large iron ball chained to his handcuffs, and despite his hands being restricted, Kanbei is able to perform destructive grapple attacks in roughly the same manner as Cody Travers of "Final Fight" and "Street Fighter" fame.
Sengoku BASARA 3
Kuroda Kanbei was a vassal of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. During this time however, he was secretly waiting for a chance to take the country himself. Due to the rebellion of Tokugawa Ieyasu, Hideyoshi was killed, and Ishida Mitsunari, another general under Hideyoshi's command, took it upon himself to chase and imprison Kanbei due to his motives. Kanbei, being noted as a top strategist, possessed a great mind, but was also cursed with horrendous bad luck. He seemed to cherish his dream and was determined to fulfill it, thus, as the conflict dividing the Land drew closer, Kanbei broke out of his cell and tried to continue to make his dream come true. However, his motives are immediately found out by Yoshitsugu and Motonari, and he is forced to serve under them as a vassal to the Western Army, or he would be imprisoned once again. After fighting their battles for them, Kanbei flies into a fit of rage and attacks Motonari to become a free man, but with Motonari being the craftier of the two, he explains that Kanbei cannot be free until he rids himself of his shackles, telling him that Yoshitsugu holds the key on his person. With that newfound knowledge, Kanbei rushes to the battle between the Western Army and Eastern Army at Sekigahara to take back the key from Yoshitsugu, but he ends up getting caught up in the heat of the battle and ends up defeating everyone, including Yoshitsugu, Honda Tadakatsu, Ieyasu, and Mitsunari. When he is about to obtain the key, a hawk swoops down and steals it from him, forcing him to live a life of bad luck for all eternity.
Sengoku BASARA 4
In another story, Kanbei met Hōjō Ujimasa as he was the former Toyotomi member which takes assault at Odawara, leaving the Western Army and formed a truce with Ujimasa, which later accompanied with Gotō Matabei.
Gameplay
Considered as the slowest character in game, in movement speed, attack speed, and also recovery. His attack damage isn't that great as well compared to the other Tank-type character (unless his final Super Moves, when he explodes himself using bomb). But on top of that, he is the character which possess the greatest attack range, and his regular 8 hit attack, hit all direction that might prevent him from being hitted, a very savvy combo. You may charge his regular 8 hit combo and spin like 4 times, if you do it more than that, Kanbei will be dizzy and he will be stunned for sometimes, leaving you wide open. But then, against opponent in Basara or Heaven difficulty in Sengoku Basara 4 Sumeragi, do not ever try to use his combo when you're covered by the horde, as they're extremely aggressive and does not forgive even a second of delay. His combo is a savvy one, but he is not a combo crazy.
Using his 6th special moves (His rolling spin) is the best alternative to escape a horde of enemies and reach safety, before you launch another of his extreme ranged moves. You may use his Drop Kick attack (Yakudama Tosshin) to directly charge upon your enemies and do your Basara moves. And then his 3rd Skills, Yaku Atari would allow you to play save as well and can be chained together with your regular 8 hit combo. And then there are this 5th Special moves which allows him to create a whirlwind of destruction that will drag your opponent within, its a good skill, however, be careful when hit your opponent too close with this, instead of creating whirlwind, he will do a Piledriver Grab that can be chained up to 11 times against a single opponent. The dangerous part is that because this skills have a very long recovery time, and not reccomended to use for horde sweepings, but rather for Hero duel.

Historical information
Kuroda Yoshitaka (黒田孝高, December 22, 1546 - April 19, 1604), other name Kuroda Kanbei ( 黒田官兵衛), was a Japanese daimyo of the late Sengoku through early Edo periods. Yoshitaka succeeded to the family headship in 1567, the same year that he participated in the Siege of Inabayama Castle, when Oda Nobunaga defeated the Saitō clan of Mino province. A few years later, with Toyotomi Hideyoshi spearheading the Oda clan's advance into the Chugoku region, he pledged loyalty to the Oda. Yoshitaka, together with the sickly Takenaka Hanbei, served as Hideyoshi's strategists and assisted in the campaign against the Mōri clan.
Shortly before 1587, Yoshitaka was ordered by Toyotomi Hideyoshi to lead an attack into Kyushu. Along with him was the famous Christian daimyo Takayama Ukon. After seeing the thriving Christian population of Kyushu and under Ukon's influence, Yoshitaka was baptized with the name ドン・シメオン (Dom Simeão = Don Simeon). But when Hideyoshi made his famous edict that expelled foreign missionaries and ordered all the Christian samurai under his rule to abandon their faith, Yoshitaka gave up his new religion and adopted a monk's habit calling himself (如水) Josui.
Yoshitaka made an attempt to conquer the region of Kyūshū during the Battle of Sekigahara, but this ended up in failure. After his son Kuroda Nagamasa succeeded him, Yoshitaka died in 1604 at the age of 57.
